The IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Richmond Hill Country Club, with 40 members in attendance. The meeting began with a welcome from the President, followed by the confirmation of quorum, acknowledgment of past presidents, and the adoption of the agenda and previous AGM minutes.
The Treasurer presented the 2025 Financial Statements, the 2026 Proposed Budget, and the approval of auditors for 2026, all of which were accepted following motions and votes. Committee Chairs then provided updates on key areas such as marketing, education, membership, technical advancements, and advocacy. Reports from the Maritime Branch and Region VII were also shared.
The 2026 Board of Directors welcomed new members Matt Singleton, Zahra Jandaghian, Anthony Franchino and Shristi Joshi. A call for committee volunteers was made, encouraging further engagement from members. The chapter also proudly announced that we will be receiving the prestigious IIBEC Platinum Chapter Award from IIBEC HQ. Following this announcement, awards were presented to recognize the outstanding contributions of our members and sponsors over the past year:
- President Recognition Award 2025 – Meagan Kikuta
- Outgoing Director Awards 2025 – Blaine Braun and Blair Gamracy
- Outstanding Committee Chair Award 2025 – Brandon Gemme
- Outstanding Sponsor Award 2025 – Triumph Group of Companies
Following the AGM business and awards, two excellent technical seminars were conducted:
- Overview of the Green Roof Industry in Ontario – Presented by Dr. Karen Liu, Next Level Stormwater Management.
- Leak Detection vs Moisture Detection – The Not So Obvious Pros and Cons of Each – Presented by Paul Johannesson, International Leak Detection (ILD).
