IIBEC Emerging Professionals featured Ontario’s own Stephanie Robinson B.A.Sc., P.Eng for its Blueprints of an Enclosure Career series on January 08^th online through a Zoom seminar.

This seminar was moderated by Jordan Swail of the Southern Ontario Chapter, who spoke with Stephanie about her journey through her education, early career, work and travel in both Canada and United States. Stephanie shared meaningful insight into her professional journey and offered practical recommendations for new and emerging building enclosure consultants.

This seminar was attended by almost 50 participants from across Canada and the United States. The event successfully connected emerging professionals across North America and highlighted the value of shared industry experience.

IIBEC SOC Christmas Luncheon – December 11, 2025

The IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter hosted its Annual Christmas Luncheon on December 11^th at Bellue Manor in Vaughan, Ontario.

The event started with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails as 210 guests registered and socialized.

Lunch was served as Meagan Kikuta, Chapter President, introduced the Chapter’s new Board of Directors.  Meagan Kikuta, Lora Ferrazzo, and Ben Kraemer updated the membership about the great things that have been going on locally and issued a thank you to all our sponsors.

Jennifer S. Hogan, First Vice President of IIBEC international updated the membership on IIBEC’s upcoming events. We wish her luck as she moves to the Presidents role in the new year!

Mike D’Urzo of Mega Magic captivated the attendees with illusions that left us awestruck. Wrapping up the day, John Mills and Lora Ferrazzo announced raffle winners, ending the event on an exciting note as prizes were distributed among the lucky recipients.

This year, the IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter proudly supported the Blue Veil Charity-Sara Elizabeth Center, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs, through art, skill development, and peer inclusivity with a 50/50 draw. The Southern Ontario Chapter of IIBEC hosted their annual golf tournament at the beautiful Glen Eagle Golf Club. Attendees at the well attended event were treated to great company, fabulous food, inclement weather, and a truncated game of golf.

The Canadian Roofing Expo (CRE) formerly Rooftech was held on April 15-16 at the International Centre, in Toronto Canada. Designed by the roofing industry to provide architects, building inspectors, contractors, engineers, property owners, property managers, roofing consultants and specifiers with an educational experience directly related to all aspects of roofing.

The IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter was in attendance at the Expo and hosted a social event afterwards. The social event was held at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, with 85 attendees.

On February 6th, 2025, the 4th Annual IIBEC SOC Diversity and Inclusion in Building Science Forum was hosted at the Design Exchange, drawing an impressive crowd of over 100 attendees for a day of education and networking.

The event kicked off with an opening speech by the Keynote speaker Miljana Horvat, Dipl.Ing.Arh, MArch, PHD, Professor, Associate Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science at Toronto Metropolitan University. Professor Horvat spoke about the multidisciplinary nature of building science and raising the profile of the industry to be more widely known and attractive.

Master of Ceremonies Blair Gamracy of Synergy partners introduced the panel discussion including: Jennifer Hogan of Pretium Engineering, Alex Lukachko, of the University of Toronto, and Shristi Joshi of Artistic Skylight. The moderator was Stephanie Robinson of WSP Canada. The panel discussed 

• Diverse Perspectives in Sustainable Design: How different backgrounds and experiences contribute to innovative solutions in building sciences.

• The Role of Diversity in Tackling Climate Challenges: How diverse teams bring varied ideas for energy efficiency, green building, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
• Inclusive Workplaces in STEM Fields: Promoting equity and inclusion in architecture, engineering, and building technology professions.
• Bridging the Gap: How to attract and support underrepresented groups in building sciences.

The 4th Annual IIBEC SOC Diversity and Inclusion Forum was a resounding success, providing a platform for learning, networking, and the celebration of diversity within the IIBEC community.
