Christmas Luncheon 2021

IIBEC Southern Ontario hosted the online course, Vegetative Roofing for the Design Professional, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. on October 21 and 22, 2021.  The online live course was attended by 18 people and was presented by Doug Fishburn, RRO, Green Roof Professional (GRP).

The two-day course was structured for those who design vegetated green roofs or who are responsible for correcting vegetated green roof thermal or moisture protection performance problems. Vegetated green roof design is a technically demanding and evolving growth industry. The course provided guidance in the areas of design criteria, system selection, reference standards, and flashing principles and discussed the influences of Factory

IIBEC Southern Ontario hosted the online course, Building Enclosure Quality Assurance, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. on October 7, 2021.  The online live course was attended by 13 people and was presented by Jennifer Hogan, RRO.

The course for professionals provided in-depth information for in-field inspections and application quality.  The course covered the diverse and challenging aspects of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior walls encountered in the field.

Highlights of the course included:

• The role and responsibilities of the quality observer
• Contract administration
• Construction contract documents

The Southern Ontario Chapter of IIBEC got together on July 28 for its annual golf tournament at the beautiful Lionhead Golf Club in Brampton, Ontario. A total of 104 golfers were treated to a fantastic day on the links to properly enjoy the summer season.

IIBEC Southern Ontario hosted our second continuing education webinar of the year on May 26, 2021 on the topic of the CCDC 2 – 2020.

The webinar was well attended by 22 people. The webinar covered the most crucial changes in the new version of the CCDC 2 including payment terms, Ready for Takeover and Early Occupancy, safety, companion documents and contracts, and best practices including supplementary conditions. The webinar was presented by Michael Swartz, Partner at WeirFoulds LLP, Krista Chaytor, Partner at WeirFoulds LLP, and moderated by Meagan Kikuta.
