On June 28th, 2023, the Southern Ontario Chapter of IIBEC held their annual golf tournament at the scenic Royal Ontario Golf Club in Milton, Ontario.

Lunch and registration started at 12:30 pm followed by a 1:30 pm shotgun start. The day started off hazy with the wildfire smoke, but eventually cleared in the late afternoon. It was a successful day with 144 golfers attending the sold out event. Dinner was followed in the clubhouse with the following winners announced:

• Closest to the Pin were Tyler Glebeshow and Emily Park
• Longest Drive was Corey Jeffrey.
• First Place Team; Damien Emmerson, Justin Swanski, Patrick Grubb, Tyler Glebeshow

Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets for the 50/50 draw for Jayne’s Fund – $795 will be going towards Jayne’s Fund. This fund was created by the Hounslow family in memory of their daughter Jayne Anne Hounslow. The fund will help remove financial barriers for children wanting to participate in sports, music and summer camps.

IIBEC Southern Ontario hosted the in-person seminar on “Creating Reusable Insulation Systems for  Roofing & Waterproofing Applications” on April 18th, 2023. The lunch seminar was attended by 40 people and was presented by Peter Gross of Siplast.  

The seminar was engaging and informative, with attendees learning specifying aggregate and  lightweight insulating concrete systems, how they achieve their lightweight properties, and both  benefits and limitations of lightweight insulating concrete systems.

IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter hosted a celebration of IIBEC’s 40thyear anniversary, at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, on April 4th, 2023.  The event followed the ROOFTech Tradeshow and was an exceptional opportunity for our members to connect, celebrate, and reflect on how far we have come as an organization.  

Adam Gotfraind, president of the Southern Ontario Chapter, started off the event with some thoughtful words on our chapter and was followed by Brian Pallash, IIBEC’s Executive Vice President and CEO, who praised the importance of our local chapter and IIBEC’s important historic role in the building envelope and roofing industries. In addition to the words of our IIBEC Executive, the Board presented a student bursary to Dagmawit Habtom.

The event included great food, beverages, and some delicious anniversary cake. It was attended by 87 members and non-members, including industry professionals, roofing contractors, and manufacturer’s reps.
