IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter’s “Rooftop Quality Assurance” Course was held on Friday November 15th at The Toronto Construction Association Head Office in Richmond Hill. The course was a great success with 2 presenters and 38 attendees.

Rooftop Quality Assurance is a one-day course for professionals interested in performing observation to assure that roof installation is consistent with construction documents. The program covers the diverse and challenging aspects of roofing as encountered in the field and is ideal for roofing material manufacturers, general contractors, quality assurance observers, and field inspectors. Instructors covered fundamentals of quality assurance, component assembly and quality practice guidelines for a variety of roofing systems, including: role of the roof observer, construction contract documents, daily reports, low-slope roofing, spray-applied foam, steep-slope roofing, ethics and codes. IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter’s “Roof Technology & Science II” Course was held on Thursday September 19th and Friday September 20th at The Toronto Construction Association Head Office in Richmond Hill. The Course was a great success with 4 presenters and 19 attendees.

The course builds upon the fundamentals presented in Roof Technology & Science I Course that was previously offered in February of 2019. Topics covered in the Roof Technology & Sciences II included wind, fire properties, liquid membranes, roof flashing design problems, roof surveys, moisture surveys, maintenance & repair, roof asset management, expanded use roof systems, steep roofing, clay and concrete tile, and metal roofing. IIBEC SOC would like to thank our presenters:

On August 29th, 2019, the IIBEC Southern Ontario Chapter hosted the first End of the Summer Social to network and meet the new IIBEC Executive Vice President and CEO, Brian Pallasch.

The event was hosted at the Crooked Cue in Toronto and turned out to be a great success with 36 registrants and 3 sponsors. Pool Sharks and Ping Pong enthusiasts from across our industry showed off their skills and welcomed our new CEO with great food and conversation.
